How to get around the city by bike
The mobility of tomorrow is increasingly integrated and sustainable. It concerns not only public transport, therefore, but the entire field of alternative, soft mobility.
Would you like to use your bike?
In cooperation with Bergamo Municipality ATB planned and designed the city's bike lanes and installed vertical ‘wayfinding’ signage to create safer routes for bicycles.
For every citizen of Bergamo, there are 0.75 linear metres of cycle paths.
Do you need a bike?
If you don't have a bike, you can turn to the city's bike sharing service La BiGi: an innovative model implemented by ATB on behalf of Bergamo Municipality and managed in cooperation with nextbike GmbH, a European leader in the sector.
Can I carry my bicycle on public transport?
A maximum of four bicycles may be carried per vehicle and only on uphill runs on the San Vigilio funicular and the T1 Bergamo - Albino tram line. If there are more than four bicycles, the first four to arrive at the stop get on.
Moreover, on the tram, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only, it is possible to use the service with compulsory booking for groups with more than 4 bicycles (up to a maximum of 10), by calling 035 3692351 at least three days in advance. If there are other bicycles at the stop, in addition to the 10 booked, only the 4 allowed by the regulations may be added, for a maximum of 14 bicycles per ride.
It is forbidden to transport bicycles during weekday rush hours (6:20-8:40 a.m., 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) or in other cases of particular crowding as well as on buses and the City Funicular, unless they are folding bicycles that are closed and comply with the maximum permitted dimensions of 40x80x120 cm.
In all cases it is necessary to pay an additional fare corresponding to that purchased for the passenger.
