Terms of payment

From 1st September 2022, in accordance with the provisions of Article 46 paragraph 1 of the Regional Law of April 4, 2012, the following amounts are applied to the penalties:

On-board payment 35,00 Euros, 55,00 Euros in case of recidivism;
Payment within 5 days 50,00 Euros, 85,00 Euros in case of recidivism;
• Payment within 60 days from notification 65,00 Euros, including the cost of proceedings;
• Payment over 60 days from notification 165,00 Euros, including the cost of proceedings.

In case of recurrence of the violation within 3 years, the amount of the penalty is doubled.

After 60 days from the date of notification of the violation, without the payment of the penalty or regularization of the dispute for forgotten seasonal passes, ATB will proceed to serve the order/injunction in the amount of 180 Euro, including the costs of notification.

In case of forgotten seasonal pass, the holder of seasonal passes or Regional Transport Card issued by Lombardy region, who fails to show the travel document to ATB inspection staff, must regularize his or her position within 5 days of the dispute by personally presenting the pass at the ATB Point or ATB offices in via Monte Gleno. At the first forgetfulness no payment is required, while in case of recidivism the subscriber will have to pay the amount of €10.00 as a reimbursement of administrative expenses.
The recidivism is calculated in the calendar year (January 1-December 31).
The "Forgotten Subscription" treatment is not applicable to the weekly subscription.

Methods of payment

It is possible to pay ATB fines:

  • directly on-board, in cash, ATM and credit cards
  • online, by credit card:
  1. using this link for fines issued from 12th till 16th June included
  2. from this page for fines issued till 11th June and from 17th June included
  • on the bank account property of ATB nr. 43530955 using the attached form
  • by bank tranfer on the BPM Group bank account property of ATB - IBAN IT97O0503XXXXXXXXXXXX004582 specifing the report number
  • at the ATB Point - Largo Porta Nuova open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 till 18.30 and  Saturday from 8.00 till 13.00
  • at the Inspection and Service Safety Office - via Monte Gleno 13. From Tuesday 7th January 2025, the Office will receive the public by appointment only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2pm to 4pm. The appointment has to be made by email to sanzioni@atb.bergamo.it. On Wednesdays it will be closed to the public.

Contest

In accordance with Article 18 of Law No. 689 of 24/11/1981, the interested parties may, within 30 days from the date of the notice or notification of the violation, submit defensive writings and documents, and may request to be heard by ATB's Claims and Legal office in Via Monte Gleno 13, 24125 - Bergamo.

In accordance with Article 22 of Law No. 689 of 24/11/1981, those concerned may appeal against the payment order-injunction before the Justice of the Peace of Bergamo, within the term of 30 from receipt.

Travel documents

According to Article 1 of the Travel Regulations, passengers using ATB Consorzio s.c.r.l. Transport Services must make sure they have the valid travel documents, and keep them for the duration of their journey as far as the final stop.
Paper and digital travel documents must be purchased before boarding, except for those purchased on board (ticket vending machines and Passa e Vai contactless payment system). Tickets and weekly season tickets may be used from the time they are stamped for the duration shown on the document. Ticket purchased on board are already validated, while tickets purchased by the ATB Mobile app must be validated within the app itself before boarding. Passengers whose ticket has expired must stamp another in order to finish their journey. Passengers must inform the driver about problems in validating or breakdowns. Weekly passes must be filled in with the b-card number and the route. Stamped tickets are not transferable. If the automatic vending machine on board or Passa e Vai validators are out of order, passengers are not authorized to travel without a travel document. Passengers who have subscribed a weekly, monthly or annual pass must always bring with them both the b-card and the pass. IVOL subscribers must show the payment receipt.

Fines

Passengers without a travel document, with a non-stamped/not in conformity/ or expired ticket are liable to pay a fine in accordance with current regulations. At the request of inspectors, passengers must show their ticket, and if there is a problem, must provide a valid identity document for the purposes of filling in the penalty report. Inspectors may confiscate irregular and/or false travel documents. Passengers who breach one or more of these regulations may also be fined.
