Passes purchase and renewal
Purchase and renew methods for ATB and TEB, provincial and regional public transport passes.
How and where to subscribe
In order to subscribe an ATB, provincial or regional pass, it is necessary to apply for a b-card, the yellow and orange identification card that is valid for three years and costs €10, or the IVOL card, which is free of charge. When travelling, it is necessary to carry the b-card and pass voucher with you at all times.
For immediate issue of the card and pass simply present at the ATB Point or at the Bergamo Station ticket office:
- the fully completed and signed form (in the case of minors, a parent's signature is required) related to the choosen type of pass. All forms can be found here.
- a recent colour passport photo for scanning
- an identity document of the applicant (in the case of minors, that of a parent)
- the subscriber's tax code or health card
How to renew the pass
The pass can be renewed from the 20th of each month for the following month:
- online
- at ATB Point
- at Bergamo Station ticket office
-
by ATB Mobile app.
For renewals made in person (not online) at the offices, the b-card must always be shown.
Before renewing your pass, you must check that your b-card is valid and intact. If it has expired or is broken, a new one must be requested.
It is also not possible to proceed online if:
- there changes in personal data to be made
- you wish to change the type of pass you have subscribed to or the benefits associated with it have lapsed (for example the subscriber has turned 14)
- you are an UniBG student or wish to subscribe/renew a cumulative pass
How to renew the b-card
Also the b-card renewal can be carried out online, at the ATB Point and at Bergamo Station ticket office maintaining the same card number.
Renewal requires the presentation of the same documents as for the first application.
What should I do if my b-card is broken or lost?
If the pass has expired, a new b-card must be requested at the ATB Point or at Bergamo Station ticket office by presenting the same documents as for the first application.
If the pass is still valid, a duplicate must be requested by filling in the appropriate form and presenting it to the ATB Point (if a charge has been pressed to the Authority, a copy must be attached).
The customer will only have to pay for the b-card (10 euros).
Tax deduction
In accordance to Article 15, point i-decies) of the TUIR, as amended by Law 205/2017, for expenses incurred for the purchase of passes for local, regional and interregional public transport services, the taxpayer may benefit from a refund equal to 19% on a maximum €250 expense. The maximum deduction will therefore be €47.50 (19% of 250) and can be claimed both for oneself and for dependent family members.
To claim the tax bonus, which is recognised for all transport passes, it is necessary to take care to keep the documents proving that the expenditure was incurred (for the compilation of the 2023 tax return to be submitted in 2024). In the case of local transport passes issued by ATB, for taxpayers, children and dependent spouses, it will be necessary to keep the travel ticket, i.e. the season ticket voucher, which to all intents and purposes fulfils the function of a tax receipt and thus documents the payment incurred.
For the purposes of the tax deduction for the year 2024, the ticket contains all the data useful for tax purposes, i.e. the first and last name of the individual, ATB logo, VAT number, description of the characteristics of the transport, amount of the fees due, progressive number and date of issue or date of use (for Lombardy Region paper season tickets). The indication of the subscriber's tax code is not compulsory for deduction purposes.
ATTENTION: for the purposes of the tax deduction, public transport expenses incurred from 1 January 2020 must only be made using traceable instruments (debit cards, credit cards and bank transfers). Expenses paid in cash will not be eligible for deduction. Subscribers will therefore have to keep not only the season ticket coupon, but also the POS payment receipt delivered by the cashier, or they will have to print out the account statement with the reference to the season ticket payment.
